I started my career qualifying as an electrician, after finishing my apprenticeship I worked within an electrical contracting company for a few years. I then changed direction seeking a new challenge, becoming a multi-skilled engineer, gaining my mechanical and PLC qualifications at college, enabling me to maintain and repair different types of machinery.
I found after several years that I missed working in different places and with different people, so I decided to take a role within Fire Protection Services, re-training as a fire alarm engineer progressing through the ranks to become a project engineer.
I then felt the time was right for me to start my own company, Wood Electrical, and offer my skills as a sub-contractor to other fire alarm companies, installing or commissioning mainly addressable systems. After ten years I believed the next progression was to start my own fire and safety company, Mendip Fire. I have set out to build a company that is focused solely on a great customer experience.
I continue to complete training on a regular basis for various new or updated products, IPAF and PASMA training and yearly I am required to carry out asbestos, working at height and manual handling courses, which are a part of our Safe contractor accreditation.
